Citizens of Jefferson County, I stand before you as a candidate with a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our community’s unique challenges. I served as a dedicated Jefferson County Deputy for 28 years, 19 of those years I served as a narcotics investigator, to include 18 years with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. My career has been built on fostering strong, relationships based on trust, integrity, and a commitment to justice.

For a decade, I led the Narcotics Division, managing complex investigations at both local, state and federal levels. These experiences have equipped me with the leadership and problem-solving skills necessary to move our Sheriff's Office forward.

Jefferson County deserves a Sheriff who prioritizes public safety, jail management, and the effective operation of our court system. We must refocus on these core responsibilities to restore faith in law enforcement and ensure every resident feels secure in their community.

My name is Jude Washington, and I am honored to announce my candidacy for Jefferson County Sheriff.

With nearly 30 years of dedicated law enforcement experience, I am committed to bringing integrity, accountability, and proactive leadership to our Sheriff's Office.

Implement Jail Improvement

Improve living conditions and inmate management and security.

Commission a Homicide Division

Ensures investigators can focus on critical homicide cases without having to investigate other crimes.

Develop a Full-Time SWAT Unit

Focus on surveillance, fugitive apprehension, warrant execution, intelligence, and emergency operations.

Effective Policing in High-Crime Areas

Implement strategic crime reduction initiatives while ensuring accountability.

Establish Full-time Motor Scout Traffic and Accident Investigations Unit

Enhance traffic enforcement and public safety.

Form a Qualified Jail Investigative Team

Address internal issues and improve facility oversight.

Autonomize the Internal Affairs Unit

Ensure transparency and unbiased investigations within the department.

Return control of division to first-line supervisors

Gives first line supervisors the ability to correct the shortcomings of those they supervise.
